It seems that Christmas is in town and some of the shops in the West End have started to share the cheer. I always look forward to seeing what they come up with each year. Last wednesday walking back from the NowTV event I decided to make a little detour on the way home and see what was around.
The first thing I noticed was the giant snowglobe in the middle of Piccadilly Circus.
Walking down Piccadilly I stopped by Fortnum and Mason to see their Christmas windows. It looks like they have gone for quite a traditional feel this year.
Next, I decided to take a walk down Bond Street, I expected more shops to have made an effort but maybe it’s still quite early.
Turning back onto Regent Street which has gone big this year.
Oxford Street seems to have taken a modern approach.
I’ll be heading out again towards the beginning of December so stay tuned for more Christmas window pics!
Last week the lovely people at NOWTV invited me and some other bloggers for a girls night of pampering in the penthouse at the W Hotel in Leicester Square. During the night we were given the chance to check out the NOWTV service as well as enjoy a massage and get our nails done by WAH nails. A bit of background on NOWTV for those who are unfamiliar, it is a internet service owned by BSkyB and allows you to access movies, entertainment shows like The Face and sports packages without signing up to Sky itself. All you need is an internet connection. The service is delivered through a small NOWTV box which turns your TV into a smart TV. At the end of the evening we were given a a goody bag with a NOWTV box to try out and some lovely Cowshed goodies. Being a movie buff I couldn’t wait to set it up and I have to say I have been impressed as the range of movies on the Sky Movies package is really good. So far I have watched Lola Versus and Think Like A Man. Check out the pictures below for more details of the night.

I love discovering new artists so I was really pleased when I received information about Lauren Baker’s upcoming show at the Hang Up Gallery. Just in time for the festive season, the exhibition promises an intoxicating combination of neon lightning bolts, gold plated fingers, a 6ft infinity coffin and a pumping heart sculpture to name a few.
The show will take you on a journey through Lauren’s Enchanted Afterlifeseries of beautifully hand painted, embellished human skulls and animal skulls and then onto The Storm, an appreciation of science in the form of an incredible sound and light installation set up in room two of the gallery. The production will incorporate lightning bolts, smoke and crackling thunder.
She has recently dressed the renowned Christmas windows of Selfridges, Harrods as well as Lily Allen and her sister Sarah Owen’s vintage clothing boutique ‘Lucy in Disguise’.
The show opens to the public the 7th December 2013 – Check out some of the pieces that she will be exhibiting below.

One of the best things about living in London is the plethora of places to eat and shop. London food discoveries is a new thing that I am adding to the blog – short and sweet I hope you will enjoy these posts enough to give these places a try.
One of my recent London food discoveries is the Upsy Daisy Bakery and tearoom in Hammersmith. Last saturday a friend took me to there for spot of tea and cake.
The bakery sells the most scrumptious and unusual cupcakes which are available to takeaway or try in their small but perfectly decorated tea room. We tried the earl grey and lemon and chocolate flavoured cupcakes, washed down with some lovely vanilla tea.
Upsy Daisy Bakery also offer a fabulous range of afternoon teas staring from 6 pounds for a cream tea. its definitely a place worth visiting if you find yourself in the area and have some time to kill.
