I have to admit that some of these things I can only dream of receiving for xmas…Are you listening Santa?? LOL.
Recently I discovered a young and emerging designer who produces some very interesting and funky prints. Her silk headscarf’s are to die for.
“A Lancashire lass, Charlotte Taylor moved to London straight from school to pursue her dream of becoming a clothes designer. Five years later she graduated from Central Saint Martin’s and was selected to be a part of its prestigious press show. Along the way Charlotte assisted numerous designers including Marcus Constable and at fashion houses including Frost French. Upon graduation Charlotte was snapped up by Luella, subsequently leaving in June 2009 to set up her new venture under her own name”.
A girl has a right to love shoes! Charlotte Olympia is the child of Charlotte Dellal. She is a graduate of Cordwainers and the sister to London IT girl and model Alice Dellal. Her designs are inspired by the glamour of the nineteen forties and are popular because unique and eyecatching shapes. These shoes are worth saving those pennies for! Santa?
Charlotte Olympia is a favourite with many celebrities including, Emma Watson, Sarah jessica Parker and Olivia Palermo.
The Ipad2 was launched yesterday and will be coming to the UK March 23rd. With a slick new design and faster processing power Apple have managed to exceeded expectations once again. If I had a spare 500 quid I would definitely get one. Alternatively there are rumors T-mobile and Orange will be offering them on 24 month contracts. Watch Steve Jobs presentation below.
Apologies for the lack of posts this week, Lanky girl has been feeling rather under the weather. Recently I have become a bit obsessed with the style of the 1940s and today I found myself looking online to see if I could find a retro style hat. On my new favourite website Etsy they had these beautiful mini berets. I’ve always loved berets after watching Lauren Bacallin The Big Sleep. Berets suit most people and they always make the wearer look chic and sophisticated.
For that wow factor!
If you are feeling kind of creative you could buy a plain beret and decorate it to your liking. McCulloch and Wallis have a vast range of plain berets. Ebay is a also a good place to find ribbons and bows and other gems to make your beret look unique. A nice simple project that is sure to get you compliments when your done. Something like the picture below is very easy to make.
As well as being tall I have been blessed with larger than average feet, size 8’s to be precise. 🙂
If you read my previous post you will know about love of Manolo’s. Well I’d be lucky if I could ever squeeze my feet in them. Now I know how the ugly sisters felt when Cinderella paraded her feet in those dainty glass slippers. Sigh…Well it seems that a few designers have now started to notice that women’s feet are getting bigger. New Look, Next and M&S all have ranges for those with larger and wider feet. Unfortunately there is often a limited range. Ladies with larger feet should not despair as fairy godmother is here in the shape of bespoke fashion shoemakers Shoes Of Prey.
Based in Australia but shipping worldwide, Shoes Of Prey allows you to design the shoes of dreams online and has a large variety of materials from Italian silk to patent leather. Shoes are made to various widths and from sizes 31 – 49 (European). Shoes come in a variety of vibrant colours and you can personalise your shoes with little designer extras. So now you can replicate what you see on the catwalk. 🙂 Prices range from £150 for ballet pumps to £210 for ankle shoes. They have a one year return guarantee and if your shoes don’t fit they will fix them for free.
Moped! With train fares on the rise and the quality of service being abysmal Lanky girl has been looking for other ways to get to work and save money. Currently I am paying 150 pounds a month for 1-4 travelcard. That is 1800 pounds a year! My daily commute to work is 10 miles and as much as I like cycling it would kill me to do that on a bicycle every day. Hence how I came up with the idea of a riding a moped to work. My commute according to google would only take 30 mins and it looks to be a fairly straight route Hurray! During my search for more information I came across the Get on website a great website for beginners starting out in the world of two wheels. They also offer you a free two-hour session on a motorcycle in which you will be taught how to ride and learn important safety information. I promptly signed myself up and am awaiting contact from one of their test centres. According to the online calculator I could save myself a lot of money travelling this way.
Of course while I am waiting to have my first ride on a moped I have been looking and dreaming of what kind of moped I would like to have….
These retro styled mopeds are gorgeous….
Pink and girly..
And of course safety is very important but thankfully lanky girl wouldn’t have to sacrifice style for safety wearing any of these helmets.
Yes I know… I want a VW Beetle but I can’t drive! (the fact I can’t afford one is also a point) but whilst taking a break from revision I spotted the prettiest little one on ebay. Lanky girl is a sucker for daisies, when I finally do get a car I am going to cover it in them. I think its great a car can be an expression of your personality 🙂
And check out the other ways people have used decals to make their car gorgeous I especially like the wheels, that is flower power indeed!
