Things to do this weekend in London 3rd – 4th August 2013

So first I have to apologize to those of you who have been checking the blog for updates, I have recently decided to launch a new business which on top of running a blog and working full-time means manic! Anyway I’m back and it’s August people! How fast is this year flying by! Observations aside it looks like this weekend will be fine weather wise so time to get up out and about. Here are some of my picks of things to this weekend in London.

Love Cycling? then head down to Prudential Ride London Saturday 3rd August 2013

If you love cycling, but fear the mean streets of London then today it’s time to dust of that bicycle in the shed and head down to what will be London’s biggest free cycling event, Ride London. From 9am to 4.00pm parts of Central London will be cycle free and the rout ee which extends from Tower Hill to Green Park, will mean that you can get up close and personal with many of London’s biggest landmarks. For those of you who prefer looking at bikes there is also a free cycle show today and tomorrow at the Excel centre.

For more information, please visit: http://www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk/ and http://www.excel-london.co.uk/whats-on/prudential-ridelondon-cycling-show/

Love Street food? then check out KERB Saturdays at Granary Square, King’s Cross

Street food experts KERB have unveiled another regular event – Saturdays at Granary Square, outside Central St Martins college, and just North of King’s Cross station.  So far just three are planned – 29th June, 3rd August & 7th September.

Movie Lover? Watch movies at the  WhyNot Sunday Rooftop Cinema in Fulham Broadway

London now has so many rooftop cinemas that we are spoiled for choice. At the Whynot rooftop Cinema you can watch a film and raise money for charity. WhyNot, which donates a percentage of its revenues to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, is holding a series of rooftop film screenings on Sundays in August.  The first one is on Sunday 4th, and you can vote on Facebook on the choice of film to see.

Give your liver a break. Visit the Redemption Alcohol-Free Bar at Netil House in Hackney – Sunday

It’s funny I had an idea for setting up an alcohol free bar a few years ago but thought it would never catch on. The Redemption pop up is an alcohol free bar with great food and live DJs.  It starts on Sunday in Netil House, and runs every Sunday for the summer from 11am – 10pm.

For more information please visit: http://www.netilhouse.com/news/Redemption+@+Netil+360

Watch Hamlet in Brixton Car Park – Sunday 4th Aug

In terms of interesting pop ups, South London keeps coming up trumps. This pop up idea is a bit random but it’s definitely worth a visit. Every Sunday and Monday evening throughout August Brixton car park will host a version of Hamlet where the main character in this interpretation is Brixton itself.  Tickets cost 10 pounds – bring a blanket or 15 pounds  for seating.

Mother Clucker At The Endurance, Soho

Another set of guys are hosting a chicken pop up during lunch times and dinner during the week at The Endurance. Mother Clucker is the brainchild of a New Orleans-born chef, the deliciously named Brittney Bean, who aims to bring a bit of Southern fried chicken comfort to us Brits.
