It’s February, yay! We all know that the first couple of weeks in February is about the build up to Valentines Day – Bleurgh! And it can all get a bit tacky… But this event is different! Arts charity IdeasTap presents IdeasTap Takeover: Love, a multidisciplinary arts festival at East London’s Rich Mix from 12 – 16 February 2014. Coinciding with Valentine’s Day week, IdeasTap Takeover: Love offers an alternative to the usual mush with a line-up of original theatre, screening of short films, live performance, scratch events and creative workshops from an impressive selection of new and established artists including Scottee, RashDash and Sabrina Mahfouz. The festival will be opened on 12 February by Sir Peter Bazalgette, Chair of Arts Council England.
All artists taking part are IdeasTap members and many have won IdeasTap awards. Tickets are being released today via the IdeasTap website (3 February 2014) and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

OLD FOOLS by Tristan Bernays – Theatre
Old Fools is about Tom and Viv and the love and life they’ve shared, from first spark to dying light – but not necessarily in that order. A surprising exploration of a couple and their experience with Alzheimer’s, which hops from memory to memory. Thursday 13 February – 7pm
MISCELLANY: A speed date with love in all its guises – Theatre Premiere
In a series of one-on-one encounters, audience members will meet a host of characters from different centuries, continents, and cultures as they share stories and reveal their thoughts on love. Fusing poetry, songs, and letters, this intimate theatrical experience takes you on a whistle-stop tour through love. A unique offering from hotly-tipped emerging theatre company Invertigo. I HEART POETRY curated by Sabrina Mahfouz, featuring Inua Ellams
Round off your Valentine’s Day with a heart-warming, heart-breaking selection of poetry, films and performance inspired by the ‘L’ word, featuring Sabrina Mahfouz and Inua Ellams.
